Nucor Environmental Solutions is hiring for the following positions:

  • Operators for the Nanaimo/Crofton/Port Alberni areas

  • Operators for the Lower Mainland area

  • These are on call positions. We respond to calls 24/7 365 days a year. Applicants must be willing to be on call and respond with no notice.

  • Wage is $34.09 – $37.41 per hour plus overtime and double time, dependant on experience and Union Status.

  • This is a Unionized position. Benefits are provided through the Union.

Potential candidates must have the following:

  • Be eligible to work in Canada;

  • D&A Clearance (12-Panel Express to Lab Drug and Alcohol Pre-Access Testing)

  • Clean drivers abstract;

  • Class 3 with air or class 1 licences

  • Willing and able to travel out of town, throughout B.C. and Alberta for projects during our Busy seasons (spring and fall) and as needed.

  • Must reside in the area for which they are applying. This is not a fly in/out position.

  • Experience in the industry or a similar industry is an asset but we will train the right people if the above conditions are met.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Competently & consistently perform pre-trip inspections, equipment pre-use checklists and any other required paperwork.

  2. Completely implement company procedures for safe work practices.

  3. Keep an up-to-date electronic driver’s log. This a cell phone based app and operators will be required to download and use it.

  4. Operate vacuum trucks, combo units, high pressure water pumps and other equipment in a safe and professional manner.

  5. Must have experience with all weather and road conditions and be competent reading all road signage, using off-road communication systems and have a complete understanding of all load requirements.

  6. Complete understanding of Provincial and Municipal roads, seasonal road ban restrictions, wide load dimensions and Transportation of Dangerous Goods routes.

  7. Ability to understand the weigh scales and the transport Canada guidelines for transporting.

  8. Assist crew members with rigging in/out of and completing jobs.

  9. Interacts with customer and client and provides excellent company representation.

  10. Understand the importance of utilizing flagmen and spotters when required as necessary.

  11. Ensure truck equipment and components are in good working condition at all times.

  12. Follow company policies and procedures for routine maintenance, perform general housekeeping to ensure unit is operating properly and report any inefficiency to Project Manager.

  13. Performs minor repairs to truck as needed and discussed with project manager

  14. Following Nucor Environmental policies and procedures.

  15. Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

  16. Any other duties as assigned.
